I am celebrating a unanimous “yes” of my own Bungalow Historic District nomination with a beer in Springfield at the moment, but today was a very interesting day at Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council meeting. Not only was the Michael Reese campus (not building or buildings, but CAMPUS) enthusiastically received by the panel, but the vote is being expedited so that the demolition can stop as soon as possible on the campus via pressure from the state. Amazing, unprecedented, and about as exciting as these meetings can get!
More on this later. I left do drive down here at 4 a.m. and have a beer to drink!
